An historic site, a photograph, an artwork can hold multitudes of deeply personal and cultural meanings. Many of my artworks are made in response to other creations from the canons of art history, literature, culture. Here you can find responses to paintings by Grandma Moses and Mantegna and Magritte, to The Rotch-Jones-Duff House, a poem by Jorie Graham, the novel Ethan Frome, and more. Each response serves as an homage and accompaniment to, an exploration of, and an imaginary expansion on the original.
